Completely new scenario - planed but never realized invasion to the Hokkaido island.

Historic overview:

Operation codename: Sho IV
A big part of Soviet plans for a military campaign in the Far East in the past was quite well known and well documented in professional literature, including the Soviet expansionist demands, agreed at the Big Three at Potsdam. But the new documents published by Russian historians in the nineties, shows that in 1945 belonged to the Soviet war aims the island of Hokkaido.

Scenario in dates:
April 7, 1942: Bismarck Archipelago - Japanese land on the Admiralty Islands, which they occupy.
February 4, 1945: In the Soviet Union - The Yalta Conference begins. Churchill, Roosevelt and Stalin and their senior military and political advisors meet to discuss the postwar order and the war with Japan. Yalta is a recently liberated Crimean resort.
Juna 22, 1945: Japan - In the historically first rocket attack from a US Navy submarine, the coastal city of Shari on Hokkaido is bombarded from USS Barb (SS-220) by twelve rockets at night.
July 15, 1945: In Japan - American naval vessels bombard Muroran, the second biggest steel center in Japan, lying in Volcano Bay on the east side of the island of Hokkaido. Three battleships bombarded the Muroran and some 1000 carrier planes bombed the cities of Hakodate, Otaru, Abashiri, Kushiro, Asahigawa and Obihiro, all on Hokkaido.
August 8, 1945: In Moscow - The Soviet Union declares itself to be at war with Japan as of midnight (August 9th), citing the Japanese failure to respond to the Potsdam Declaration. Commissar Molotov says that the USSR has declared war because Japan is the only great power preventing peace. He indicates that it was in the interests of shortening the war and bring peace to the world that the Soviet Union has agreed to the Allied request made at Potsdam to join the war. Furthermore, Molotov states that the Soviets had been asked to mediate by Japan, but that proposal had lost all basis when Japan refused to surrender unconditionally.
