This scenario was not in PacG. It was created by German author Dirk Cremer already in 1998. We used only map with some corrections - added coral reef, corrected shape of islands, deleted non-existing land etc. Units was newly replaced according matter of fact from PacPG equipment. This scenario is selected as first US campaign scen and shows first japanese attemt to invade the island which had been drived back by Americans.

Historic overview:

... Quite differently evolved attempt to conquer Wake Atoll situated in the middle of Pacific ocean between Guam and Midway. Japanese faced here to unexpected strong resistance and suffered its first setback in the otherwise victorious campaign in the initial period of war. (Ivan Hrbek, Jaroslav Hrbek - Krvavé oceány, Naše vojsko 1994)

Wake Island was occupied in 23 December 1941 afted the second attempt. The island was then renamed Otori Shima.

Scenario in dates:
December 7, 1944: In the Pacific - Japanese forces bomb Guam and Wake and Midway is bombarded by two Japanese destroyers.
December 8, 1941: On Wake Island... Air attacks by the Japanese continue. A small landing force leaves Kwajalein escorted by a cruiser and two destroyers.
December 11, 1941: Wake Atoll - Japanese attempt to occupy the island is repulsed by its 450-member crew. During this destroyer Hayate sinks by fire of USMC coastal batteries and the second destroyer Kisaragi sunk by Wildcats from VMF-211 detached on the island. Relief is promised by Admiral Kimmel. Hayate is Japan´s first major surface ship lost in combat since the beginning of the conflict in the Pacific. While Wake will be a few days later conquered by the newly-organized invasion, successful action of the defenders of Wake 11.12 remains the only case in the entire Pacific War, when halted landing and driven back the invading forces.
December 16, 1941: Pacific Ocean - Hiryu and Soryu aircraft carriers with 2 cruisers and 2 destroyers separate from the Japanese 1st Air Fleet (Kido Butai) returning from the attack on Pearl Harbor to support the second attempt to invade Wake Island.
December 22, 1941: On Wake Island - two carriers Hiryu a Soryu detached from returning Pearl Harbor attacking force reache the vicinity of the island and launch 29 D3As and 2 B5Ns, escorted by 18 Zeros, to attack ground targets. They encounter no aerial opposition.
December 22, 1941: On Wake Island - After continuing the bombardment of the island the Japanese land 2.500 men on the island to fierce resistance from the 450 US Marines stationed there. The aircraft carriers Hirjú and Sorjú launch 35 B5Ns and 6 A6M Zeros for attack of the island. They are intercepted by the 2 surviving Grumman F4F Wildcat fighters of Marine Fighter Squadron VMF-211. The Wildcats shoot down 2 B5Ns before they are shot down by PO3c Isao Towara.
December 23, 1941: On Wake Island - The American troops surrender to the Japanese, the carriers sent to relieve them are still several hundred miles away.
February 24, 1942: On Wake Island - Admiral Halsey on board the USS Enterprise (CV-6) leads task force in a successful attack on Wake Island.
August 11, 1942: United States - A new Wake Island film depicting the US Marine´s defensive struggle against Japanese invasion forces in December 1941 is released in American cinemas. The movie will later be nominated for Academy Award for the Outstanding Motion Picture.
March 4, 1943: In United States - The 15th Academy Awards are held in Los Angeles. An Oscar for the best documentary film, as the first Australian film, gets the Australian documentary Kokoda Front Line! of war cameraman Damien Parer, who will later be killed by Japanese fire in the Battle of Peleliu. An American film Wake Island gains the nomination for the Outstanding Motion Picture.
October 5, 1943: In the Central Pacific - Wake Island is shelled and bombed by Task Force 14 (Admiral Montgomery). There are 6 carriers, 7 cruisers and 25 destroyers involved. The Japanese commander of the island, Captain Shigematsu Sakaibara, fearful of the invasion, orders to assassinate 98 captured Americans - the execution is carried out by a machine gun. One of the Americans escapes, but is caught again, and Sakaibara personally shields his head with a katana. He will be sentenced to death and executed by hanging in 1947.
October 6, 1943: In the Central Pacific - Wake Island is shelled and bombed by Task Force 14 (Admiral Montgomery). There are 6 carriers, 7 cruisers and 25 destroyers involved.
September 3, 1944: In Wake Island - An American force, commanded by Admiral Smith, including 3 heavy cruisers and 3 destroyers, bombards the island. The light carrier USS Monterey (CVL-26) provides air cover for the operation.
August 6, 1945: In Wake Island - The American aircraft carrier USS Intrepid (CV-11) attacks Japanese positions.

Americans must repulse the Japanese landing force. After both MiV and MaV victries follows scenario Savo. In the event of lose the campaign ends.

Scenario rarities:
The attacking side as the enemy attacking from the sea to the island at the beginning of the battle has no strategic ground point. The role of an initial point performs virtual and unpossible to occupy strategic hex in the sea. Majort victory is practically unattainable under normal circumstances, it is a necessity because of settings possibilities.
